SUPPUNI was a famous lawyer minting money by handling criminal cases.He acted against conscience always and said ”My profession is to protect my client even if he is a murderer, robber or rapist” I work for my money and use my brain” What to say about such lawyers who knowlingly undertake to defend criminals even today….
Suppuni and Raju lived in the same street and were boyhood friends. Raju was a good man and always served the poor and fed poor hungry people through his charitiy organisation. He appealed to manyfor helping him with finance for doing this charitable work honestly and many knowing his sincerety and honesty helped him with funds for running the administration of his charitable Trust.
Raju thought he may ask his old schoolmate Suppuni, the famous rich lawyer for donation to his charity organisation and met him.
”Suppuni sir, we know each other for over half a century and you know about my charitable organisation to feed the poor and educate the poor children. You are a very rich lawyer and I shall be grateful for your contribution to our noble cause”.
”Raju,do you know that I dont given a rupee to any charity?”
”I dont know sir, why, and why do you say so?”
”Do you know I earn many lakhs of rupees a month?”
”I dont know Suppuni sir, Would not you give some donation to our charity Trust ?”
Lawyer Suppuni looked at the skies, thinking for a moment, and said ”First, did your know that my mother is dying after a long, painful illness and has huge medical bills far beyond her ability to pay?”
Embarrassed, Raju replied ” Oh so sad, I dont know sir, ”
“Secondly, that my brother, Gopal is a disabled veteran, is blind and confined to a wheelchair and is unable to support his wife and six children?”
”O My God, Suppuni sir, I never know this. and I am really sorry for your brother”
“Thirdly, that my sister Gita’s husband died in a dreadful traffic accident, and the foolish fellow left my sister penniless with a mortgage and three children? Thoughtless idiot “
Raju trembled. ” Oh so sad. I apologise for having asked you donation…. I had no idea of your sufferings.”
Lawyer Suppuni cleared his throat and slowly but firmly said ..”I don’t give any money to them, then why should I give any money to you?”
Raju almost fell down but was lucky to support himself on the pillar nearby … and walked away without turning back…
