INTROSPECTION

INTROSPECTION – J K SIVAN

I have come across many who wonder about God. I have observed them accepting the stone idol, vigraham, in the temple as God. Equally there are some who have dared to ask me “How can the stone be God? Why is it accepted as God?” What to say except realising that the desire to comprehend the true nature of God arises from a genuine yearning, a deep inner urge. It is the budding Jnana Yoga or the Path of Wisdom.

This urge to know, is not at all connected with one’s educational qualifications or professional experience. It is simply a way directly or indirectly connected to divinity. The question makes one to deeply think and there the inner journey commences in exploring the truth.

This introspection reveals many astonishing secrets and facts about ourselves. We come to agree that there is some power inside us which we are not able to recognize immediately. Through constant search, contemplation and meditation, the path of Jnana Yoga reveals this teaches us simultaneously how to interact with the outside world as well.

Human mind is a strong fortress. It is useful to safeguard our inner power. It is also the power of Peace. The ultimate finding is that we should protect and guard the mind with great watchfulness and awareness. We should watch whether the doors of the fort (mind) are open or closed.

We should be able to restrict and prevent the entry of negative thoughts and feelings into the mind. We will be able to understand and experience our true nature – It is :“I am peace, I am contentment, I am bliss…”
We realise who we are and recognize our new identity. Jnana Yoga reveals the greatness of our Self to us. It shows us how to remain joyous and tranquil under all circumstances. Knowing who we are transforms us into divine messengers of Truth, Love and Peace.
Om shanthi shanthi shanthi.
